Owned by Sergej Fokke, an ex-Dutch Royal Marine, and named after a New Zealand fruit, Feijoa (pronounced 'fe-joy-a') is a small wine and cocktail bar just round the corner from Rembrandtplein.

Seating is at the bar or on white leather sofas, which are starting to look rather tatty. One wall is covered with mirrors and the tall shelves behind the bar are filled with gleaming bottles. The place attracts a relatively upmarket local crowd, although the occasional tourist does stumble across it.

Like Feijoa itself, the selection of wines and cocktails is small, but the focus is definitely on quality rather than quantity. Alongside classic cocktails, the bar staff is also happy to mix you up some more unusual concotions like the summery gin infused with cucumber and rose petals, mixed with pink grapefruit juice and served with a stick of rhubarb. Yum! Beer is also served if hops are more your thing.

Service is generally friendly and the bar staff knowledgeable, but it can get very crowded at weekends when service tends to go downhill.

Get a very cool 360-degree panorama of Feijoa here.
