Amsterdam restaurant Barista is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, serving a small menu of Italian pastries, panini, pasta dishes and, as the name implies, superb coffee. It also doubles as a wine bar, with a choice of around  25 wines by the glass.

Café Braque

Amsterdam restaurant and wine bar Café Braque has joined the growing number of new eateries that have opened at the once-desolate Ruysdaelkade end of Albert Cuypstraat. The place is an inviting mix of Parisian joix de vivre and Dutch gezelligheid.

Bar Lempicka

What was once the rather stuffy De Hogesluis has been scrubbed down and brightened up and is now Bar Lempicka. The Amsterdam bar’s name and gorgeous Art Deco interior are inspired by ‘Roaring Twenties’ artist Tamara de Lempicka. The terrace, although it is on a busy road, is also a big draw.

Almost as soon as it opened, Café Graves wine bar received top marks from food and wine critics alike. It is one of my favourite wine bars in Amsterdam, so I am always surprised that it's so quiet. Perhaps this review will help...
