After an inauspicious start in 2006, when it replaced the excellent (and sorely missed) La Sala, Meneer Nilsson restaurant and bar has pulled up its socks, expanded its tapas menu and trained its staff.
The result is good but not remarkable Spanish-influenced dishes, such as roasted vegetables with mozzarella, grilled artichoke and sliced duck breast in an orange-inflected sauce, served in trendy if cramped surroundings. The wine list includes a quaffable Rioja and several organic house wines.
Service at Meneer Nilsson is friendly, although still not always as efficient as it should be, prices are affordable and it's possible just to drop in for a beer or cocktail at the bar without eating, if you can find a seat.
Meneer Nilsson also serves breakfast from 8.30 and there's a limited sandwich menu for lunch.
