Don’t expect fancy dishes or quick service at Cafe Bern, just filling meals and a well-stocked bar. The real draw, though, is the cheese fondue, regarded by many as the best in Amsterdam.

CousCousine serves what it describes as modern North African cuisine. In practice this translates as North African flavours and ingredients - couscous, fruit-filled tagines, saffron, rose water - presented in a classical French style.

The interior is simple and modern - white walls, chrome light fittings and an
open kitchen - but the food is advertised as traditional.
