Pazzi Italian Slow Food is a pizzeria with a difference. In a traditional forno a legna (wood oven), the pizzaiolo (pizza baker) makes some of Amsterdam’s best thin-crust pizzas.

The pizzas are topped with products imported from small Italian suppliers with a passion for their trade and respect for the environment. This is the slow food element of the name, a reference to the movement established by Italian Carlo Petrini as a reaction to fast, globalised food.

Pazzi’s pizzas include classics like margherita (buffalo mozzarella, tomato, fresh basil) and marinara (anchovies, capers, tomato, garlic and oregano), but I particularly like the tartufo, an earthy combination of truffle, fontina cheese, buffalo mozzarella and Parma ham.

Pizzas are served daily from 5pm. Pazzi also serves Buscaglione coffee and a selection of paninis (9am-5pm Mon-Sat). There are only a few seats in the small interior, so this pizzeria works best as a takeaway joint.

Pazzi Italian Slow Food is close to chocolate shop Chocolatl.
