Firma Tel Fishmonger
More a warehouse than a shop, Firma Tel fishmonger, just off Nieuwmarkt, is a good place to buy fresh fish.
The fish is bought daily at auctions across the country and sold mostly wholesale to restaurants. However, the place is also open to the public and is frequented by Chinese from nearby Chinatown and other locals in the know, some of whom cycle across town to buy their fish here.
Choose from a wide range of fish and seafood, including turbot, sea bass, prawns, lobster, squid and crab. These can be bought whole or cleaned and filleted in the shop at your request.
Just round the corner from Firma Tel fishmonger is the cavernous Oriental Supermarket.
