The people behind quirky Hanneke's Boom ('Hanneke's Tree’) have, er, branched out, continuing the nature theme of their first venture with Bloemenbar ('Flower Bar').
Located in a former strip club on an alley behind Spui, Bloemenbar’s chintzy wallpaper, mismatched furniture and enormous disco ball attract a similarly eclectic crowd.
Perhaps the bar's most striking features are the bric-a-brac - point-and-shoot cameras, a Pfaff sewing machine, what looks like one of the world's first mobile phones - on rough wooden shelves on the walls, and the old-fashioned telephones on each table that punters can you use to ring other tables. These see increasing action as the evening wears on.
The owners describe Bloemenbar as a 'night canteen': in addition to drinks, the bar also serves snacks. You’ll probably need them, because Bloemenbar is open until 4am during the week and 5am on Fridays and Saturdays.
A scan of the bar's Facebook page, with details of missing items of clothing and personal possessions, gives a good indication of how a night at Bloemenbar can end.

Amsterdam Bar: Bloemenbar

I think your article on Bloemenbar is way too negative for this great place. The fact that they put missing items on their fb-profile just shows that they care (at least more then any other places) and it is a very practical solution that other busy places should follow if you ask me.

My comment about missing items was intended to be tongue-in-cheek: Bloemenbar is open so late it would be easy to forget things after such a long night. I agree that reuniting owners with lost items through Facebook is great customer service, and I hope my 4 star rating shows how much I enjoyed this place.
