A new restaurant in Amsterdam aims to showcase Dutch cooking talent. Each month for 12 months, a different chef and maitre d' will take over L'invité le Restaurant on Bloemgracht.

The restaurant was opened by two catering industry recruitment agencies, as a sort of real-life application process intended to get staff a job in another restaurant at the end of their stint.

The concept makes clever use of social media to engage diners and potential employers. Diners' experiences, as well as expenditure and daily turnover, will be posted on the restaurant's Facebook page.

The recruitment agencies behind L'invité le Restaurant have a vested interest in happy customers. Diners will be served tap water, something that many restaurants in Amsterdam refuse to do, chefs will cook with local, organic ingredients where possible, and keep prices and waste down by offering a fixed monthly menu (two-course lunch €24.50; dinner €35 for three courses, €49.50 for five courses), alongside daily specials.
