Amsterdam Bar: Bungalow 8

A favourite with celebrities, models and wannabes in London and New York, bar and club Bungalow 8 has arrived in Amsterdam.

Opened in New York in 2002, Bungalow 8 takes its inspiration from the bungalows at the Beverly Hills Hotel. Black-and-white booths, potted palms and a sunny yellow roof are intended to evoke the atmosphere of an upscale Los Angeles beach bar. Squeezed into the venue that used to be the Zebra Lounge, the effect in rainy Amsterdam isn’t quite so grandiose.

Image of Bungalow 8 Amsterdam Entrance to Bungalow 8 is reserved for members or those on the guest list, and there is very little public information on the website about upcoming events. Bungalow 8 has, however, announced that it’s hosting the opening night of this year’s Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE) on October 19, which features a mainly Dutch line-up of DJs.

If you make it past the doorman, expect a night out at the Amsterdam outpost of Bungalow 8 to be lubricated with generally well-made cocktails and other pricey drinks.
