Cafe Captein and Co is a relaxed bar and café in a corner building overlooking the Oude Waal canal and away from the hustle and bustle of Nieuwmarkt.

The menu is on a blackboard next to the bar and includes Dutch comfort food with some Mediterranean influences. The dishes are often driven by seasonal ingredients, such as game in the winter and fish in the summer. The restaurant serves enormous portions for a reasonable price.

Service can sometimes be slow, but is usually friendly. There is a small terrace outside with chairs in good weather.

Cafe Captein and Co is just down the road from Hemelse Modder.
