A rash of Asian lounges has opened in Amsterdam in recent years, including Geisha, Genki and Orbit. Although 'just' a restaurant, Uncle Wong's subdued lighting, black tables and red leather sofas channel the lounge vibe.

Although located off Leidseplein, Taste of
Culture is no mediocre tourist trap. In fact, there were no tourists in the
Chinese restaurant at all when we visited, or they were Chinese - a good sign.

& Cook is one of the best - and one of the best value. Close to Pathé Tuschinski cinema and
Amsterdam's gay scene, it's also a handy pit stop post-film or pre-club.
